Open Plans Statement on Resuming Congestion Pricing at Reduced $9 Toll

Statement from Sara Lind, Co-Executive Director at Open Plans:

“Congestion pricing should have started in June. But after months of delay, and with cancellation under the Trump administration looming, a $9 toll is a needed compromise. New York City and State simply cannot go any longer without the proven benefits of congestion pricing. We need the transit funding, gridlock relief, and jobs creation – especially because increased federal funding for highway projects could further exacerbate these issues. We’re relieved that Governor Hochul is set to finally begin this essential program before we lose a decade of work to the car-centric whims of the Trump administration.”
