Cecil Brooks Jr.
Cecil joins Open Plans as a driven advocate for ambitious investment into sustainable infrastructure. In his role as a Senior Campaign Manager, he leads engagement with commercial stakeholders such as merchant organizations and chambers of commerce. He spends much of his time troubleshooting storefront issues while highlighting the economic benefits of urbanism.
Cecil most recently served the House of Representatives for the 15th Congressional District in the South Bronx, becoming a trusted expert on commercial, tax, and environmental issues. Previously, Cecil managed 30 mayoral initiatives at the Department of Small Business Services.
For Cecil, who was born of Afro-Indigenous Honduran heritage, public service provides a channel for creating opportunity and building bridges. He remains active locally as a Bronx Community Board 1 member, the Uptown Activist Committee Chair at Transportation Alternatives, and a Community Advisory Board member at Metropolitan Hospital. He also serves as a Board Member at the Harlem Educational Activities Fund and the Bartow-Pell Mansion. An avid traveler, he always seeks opportunities to learn about new communities in pursuit of prosperity for everyone.
