Talya Schwartz
Talya joined OpenPlans to develop and lead key strategies for Urban Mobility in NYC. She is an experienced transportation and safestreets advocate, having led campaigns at the local and state level, including building coalitions, expanding grassroots participation, capturing media attention, and securing results in the form of policy and physical infrastructure improvements.
Most recently (and urgently!) Talya has been co-leading the Turnpike Trap campaign against a $10.7 Billion planned highway expansion and she is also a Trustee of Hudson County Complete Streets and President of SafeStreetJC.
Prior to her work in transportation and climate advocacy, Talya was a research director, senior strategist, and team leader at mission driven companies and non-profit organizations in the field of curricular instruction, education policy, and bi-national education.
