Volunteer Web Developer for Collaborative Storytelling Project
NYC Department of Parks and Recreation is looking for a Volunteer Web
Developer to Help Create On-Line Tool for PenTales, a Collaborative
Storytelling Project.
NYC Department of Parks and Recreation is looking for a skilled web
developer to prepare an interactive, online community input application
to support the PenTales collaborative storytelling curriculum that will
be launched in community centers throughout New York City.
PenTales is excited to introduce this innovative storytelling tool to
give people an accessible, unique, and interactive means of
collaborating on and sharing stories. Users will be using various media
(including voice, film and photography). Thus, our CMS will need to
support photos, video, and blogging generated by users of the tool. Our
intended use of this tool would require that user generated content
could be uploaded in real time, with the ability to filter material for
quality control.
We are seeking an enthusiastic developer who would be able to work
approximately 10 hours per week starting in January through completion
of project. In addition to working with PenTales and the New York City
Department of Parks and Recreation, this individual will work closely
with staff members from The Open Planning Project (TOPP) who will share resources, technical assistance, and project guidance. The PenTales project will be based on the open source Community Almanac code base.
Experience with the following technologies is desired: Python and
python-based web frameworks, Javascript (jQuery a plus), OpenLayers
and/or Google Maps API, and spatial databases including PostGIS.
Please contact Saskia Miller if you have interest in this project:
