Meet the new members of the Shareabouts family:
We’ll be featuring each map here on the blog over the next few days.
Shareabouts is our awesome crowdsourcing tool for public input and data gathering. Find out more and explore demos at shareabouts.org.
Thanks to everyone who sent us applications for Shareabouts Day. We got lots of interesting proposals to choose from, and had to make some tough decisions. We can’t wait to see the new maps in action.
* Shareabouts Day dates to a Viking-era ritual whereby seafaring explorers would, 28 days after their return from a long voyage, create copies of their atlases and allow members of their communities to plot a line guessing where the explorers travelled. Christian interpretations of the feast were outlawed by the Church in the mid-1600′s in coincidence with Galileo’s theory of the round earth.
